Pictures of Emerson, GA10-08-2006Emerson was very small town that straddles a busy rail line. There were only a handful of buildings, but the town seemed to be quite active. Part of that was due to the fact that the town's buildings were intermixed with the resident's homes. In most other towns we've been to, there are usually no homes in the town center, just businesses and municiple buildings. Being a bright, warm Sunday afternoon, a lot of people were out in their yards. Across the street from the Get It & Go was a restaraunt called Doug's Place. It was the most prominent building in the town. Mostly because it was big, looked well kept, and was painted red. In the picture, you can see how the resident's homes are just behind it. There were a couple of restaraunts in the town. One of them was called Get It & Go. It was a little bit run down looking, but there was a woman working nearby who looked like she was fixing it up. There is a municple building there as well. It looked a little like it used to be a church. It had a small stone fountain next to it and a couple of police cars in the parking lot. There were a few home behined and and a rather large looking shool a little bit further off. There was a small shopping center but it looked a bit on the deserted/run down side. Though there was a salon that looked like it was doing some business. An events planning business is located near the municple building. I took a picture of it because of the nice old house it was in. A train was idling away in the center of town. Next to it there was some sort of railroad maintenace car. The noise they were putting out made the town a rather loud place.
