Pictures of Tiger, GA12-18-2006While house shopping for Jeannemarie's parents, we passed through the town of Tiger Georgia. We were too busy to stop, so I'm afraid all the shots are from the moving SUV that the real estate agent was driving us around in. Pretty much, Tiger is a one stop sign town. It's really an intersection with a post office and a few stores. Though they did seem to be quite well kept. Apparently, the town has two legends regarding the source of it's name. One is that it is named for a Cherokee Chief called Tiger Tail. The other is that it came from the local population of wild cats. There is a nearby mountain named Tiger Mountain which probably has the same name source. The town was incorporated in 1904 and is the home of Rabun County High School. The town was very busy. There was quite a lot of traffic at the intersection and the local stores seemed quite busy.
